Erice and Trapani

Erice is a very well preserved medieval town situated on top of Mount Erice, overlooking Trapani on the west coast of Sicily. It's a 40 minute bus ride winding up the mountain- but definitely worth the trip!

 overlooking Trapani.....(see the "sickle")

Venus Castle (formally)- from Norman times...
famous desserts from Erice (delicious by the way!)
and of course more granitas... very delicious and refreshing on a hot day

In Trapani one of the most important industries is still fishing as well as harvesting of salt... the centre of town is full of later medieval or early modern buildings and especially in the Baroque style.
